Notes on Richard Clayderman's concert in Jakarta, June 7, 2013

End of May 2013, I got a call from Mr. Purwa Tjaraka, notify when on June 7, there will be a concert of world pop pianist Richard Clayderman in Jakarta, and requires String Ensemble as accompaniment. Long story short, he asked for help to put string players who totaled 12 people. Materials, training schedule etc. directly emailed to me at that time to learn.

Besides contacting the player, I was also entrusted to coach the ensemble during rehearsal because Mr. Purwa is in Padang on 1-2 June, and upon his return to Jakarta he was still preoccupied with the tasks in his music school (PCMS).

Rehearsal - 1st until 3rd day
Try out all the material, spotting the parts rather complicated, equating intonation and tempo.

Rehearsal - 4th until 5th day
Run-thru simulation, the parts are 'somewhat' dangerous more refined.

General Rehearsal at Yamaha Music Center, Jl. Gatot Subroto Kuningan, June 6
Run-thru simulation, this time with Mr. Richard Clayderman

Concert at Balai Kartini, Nusa Indah Theatre, June 7
Soundcheck starts at 4-5 pm, concert starts at 7.30pm.

The first impression met with Richard Clayderman, he was very polite and friendly. His appreciation to string players is very high, he treats them like fellow musicians.

Richard's concert seemed to open my eyes, which he did not sell the virtuoso skill, but rather the disclosure of emotions that touch the listeners heart. He spoke on the piano so sweetly and tenderly. Beautiful musical arrangements, no less or more, backed by live strings ensemble makes the performance is very much alive.

Repertoire combination between classical-pop, jazzy-pop, and orchestral symphony makes the audience enthusiastically watched the concert from start to finish.

Thank you very much Mr. Richard Clayderman for very beautiful and memorable performance.
Thank you also to Mr. Purwa Tjaraka for trusting me to be involved in this great event.

Finally, thank you for my strings players which are very talented and dedicated. Thanks for all your hard work. Can't do this without you all :).
